What GlowNotes stores

GlowNotes stores imported charts in the app's local library. Scanned charts include the original image supplied by the scanner and a black-and-white reading copy.

Camera and scanned charts

In Local Intake, Scan recovers pending scan pages first; if there are none, it can open Apple's document scanner to capture charts with the camera on supported iPads. Scanning your own music requires Parish Glow Connected. GlowNotes processes captured chart images on the device and stores the original image supplied by the scanner and a black-and-white reading copy in local app storage for review.

Subscription

GlowNotes offers one monthly subscription, Parish Glow Connected (US $4.99 a month to start), bought through Apple's In-App Purchase system under your Apple Account. GlowNotes stores subscription status and verification information locally, including product and transaction identifiers, verification time and source, and applicable expiration or revocation information. The two demo charts stay usable without a subscription; importing your own music requires it. Practice Room is always Local and free. It never requires an account, entitlement, in-app purchase, or Parish Glow Connected subscription. The subscription is tied to your Apple Account and can be restored on another iPad.

Files you open

When you open a PDF, MusicXML, or MXL file from the Files app, GlowNotes copies it into its own storage on your device and shows it to you for review before it is added to your library. You are responsible for having the right to use the music you import; the GlowNotes Terms say more.

Network use

GlowNotes uses Apple's StoreKit to look up subscription products, make purchases, and restore purchases.

Children

GlowNotes is intended for parish musicians and is not directed at children.

Temporary scan storage

GlowNotes temporarily saves captured scan images on the device while adding them to local app storage. It removes a temporary scan image after checking that the original has been saved correctly in local app storage.
